Workshops

Workshops will take place on my two acre garden, in 709 Foxboro-Stirling Road, Foxboro, Ontario. I am about 2 hours drive from Toronto, and 20 minutes from Belleville. The best time for the workshop is during late summer and autumn, because that is when Monarch butterflies are beginning to migrate, colourful leaves, and plants are mature and for harvest.

Papermaking with Plants Workshop

Fee: $170 (Includes HST)

Length of workshop: 2 days

Date: Late summer and autumn, because that is when plants are mature and ready for harvest. Please contact me at joanne@sculptedlight.ca to book a workshop.

To bring: garden gloves, rain boots, long sleeve clothing, garden clippers.

Day 1 (5-7 hours): We can make paper from many types of plant fibers. For this workshop we will focus on papermaking with milkweeds. We will be making paper from the stem (bast fibers), and from the fluff (seed fibers)

Around mid-day, we will explore natural dyeing. We will be tannin the fibers with sumac leaves, and making a dyebath with plants growing in my garden.

Day 2 (3-5 hours): We will continue making paper, and brushing them on glass to dry in the sun. While the paper are drying, we will make a simple paper sculpture.
